I just spent the last 15min uninformatively googling for the answer to 'Can I connect a powered USB hub to a wireless router to expand the number of available ports'. I got a lot of conflicting answers. Here's hoping someone can help me out.
Longer question -- My house needs a wireless router to which I can connect 2 printers & 2 external hard drives (Windows XP/7 environment). I'd like to buy a $40 wireless-n router with a single USB port, into which I will plug a powered 4 port usb hub. Is this possible? Do you have a specific model recommendation?
I don't really want to flash a 3rd party firmware (DDWRT et al).
It seems like the answer is dependent on the brand, and perhaps some proprietary firmware. Honestly, I'd like to find someone who has actually done this.
Thanks in advance - Frisbee
